Modular - modules (plugins) are separate applications which can be downloaded (fromt he market or anywhere) and updated separate to the main application 
Tabs - when you assign multiple modules to one widget they are accessible using tab-like buttons
Skinnable - the widget is skinnable through applications, the skinning API is quite simple and allows you to recreate the entire layout of the widget
Customizable - the widget is currently allows overriding of background elements and text sizes
